Mark Gillan, Chief Operations Engineer: This morning we had a productive session with both drivers successfully working through their test programmes, but unfortunately the wet second session in the afternoon proved more problematic and limited useful running.
SPANISH GRAND PRIX RACE
Race Notes
• Pastor Maldonado secured the Williams F1 Team’s first race win since the 2004 Brazilian Grand Prix with a brilliant performance in Barcelona.
• Bruno’s race unfortunately ended early as he was forced to stop on track with damage sustained following an incident with Schumacher.
STATEMENT FROM THE WILLIAMS F1 TEAM

After today’s Spanish Grand Prix a fire occurred in the team’s garage which originated from the fuel area.
Four team personnel were injured in the incident and subsequently taken to the medical centre. Three are now receiving treatment at local hospitals for their injuries, while the fourth has been released.
BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX RACE
Race Notes
• It was a disappointing day for Williams with both cars retiring before the end of the 57 lap race.
• Pastor made a great start racing through from 21st and running as high as 11th before retiring on lap 25.
• Pastor had a problem with the left-rear of his car forcing him to spin, before returning to the pits and retiring.
• Bruno also made a great start, but a worsening handling problem forced the team to retire him on lap 55.

• Bruno will start 15th and Pastor 22nd for tomorrow’s Bahrain Grand Prix.
• Bruno posted his quickest time in Q2 on a new set of soft tyres.

• The Williams F1 Team claimed a double points finish in China today, a welcome birthday present for Sir Frank Williams who turns 70 tomorrow.

Mark Gillan, Chief Operations Engineer: This morning's session proved quite difficult, with the track remaining damp for a long time and with the associated running conditions straddling between the optimal window for either the intermediate or dry tyres.
